AMSTERDAM directed by Matthew Xia, and produced by ATC with Orange Tree Theatre and Theatre Royal Plymouth was due to tour the UK between February and May.  Following the closure of theatres, we took the show online, with a ‘virtual tour’ that was seen more than 25,000 times. Many thanks to everyone who made this possible. Join ATC’s mailing list to receive regular news about our next projects, coming soon!

An ATC, Orange Tree Theatre and Theatre Royal Plymouth co-production

A violinist. Living in her trendy canal-side Amsterdam apartment. Nine months pregnant.

One day a mysterious unpaid gas bill from 1944 arrives.

It awakens unsettling feelings of collective identity, foreignness and alienation. Stories of a devastating past are compellingly reconstructed to try and make sense of the present.

AMSTERDAM is the UK premiere of a strikingly original and audacious play.

Maya Arad Yasur is a prize-winning playwright, whose work has been produced worldwide.

ATC’s 11-week UK-wide tour will journey from Plymouth to Glasgow, with dates in Manchester, Newcastle, Salisbury, Coventry and Leeds along the way. The three-way co-production, between Actors Touring Company, Orange Tree Theatre and Theatre Royal Plymouth is directed by Matthew Xia as his debut tour as artistic director of ATC.

Original Orange Tree Theatre cast member Michal Horowicz (Mimi and The Mountain Dragon – Skewbald Theatre, Neverland – Theatre Deli) is joined by emerging star Anyebe Godwin, who recently made a visceral impression in the acclaimed Orange Tree production Little Baby Jesus.  Demonstrating ATC’s commitment to supporting the early career development of new acting talent, the ensemble also includes Uri Levy, a recent graduate of Guildhall, who has also been developing his own work, including  GASLIGHTING: a bath piece at the Yard and Anya Murphy who, coming direct from her final year at Guildhall, makes her professional debut.
