#CONTINUECREATIVITY

PLEASE SUPPORT ATC TO CONTINUE ITS WORK

“Now, more than ever, we want to continue delivering great theatrical work to you, across the UK and beyond. Here at ATC, we’re committing to the future. We’re commissioning new plays now, to ensure theatre returns to your stages stronger than ever. Please help ATC #ContinueCreativity. Every little helps!

– MATTHEW XIA, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, Actors Touring Company, April 2020

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT NOW

\We need your help to support new commissions NOW to ensure we are ready to respond with new productions when theatres re-open. And to help us in helping freelance artists who need sustainable work and an income.

True to our mission, our focus in commissioning new plays is on voices underrepresented in the current mainstream – particularly women writers of colour, writing about the global issues that will continue to have deep resonance in our uncertain future.

ATC’s mission is to create dialogue between Britain and the rest of the world – and between the intersecting cultures within our own nation.

We are the only UK theatre company committed to producing plays that come from beyond our shores. We are also passionate about giving voice to the ‘outsider within’ – the cross-cultural nations within our own nation.

We tour these plays right across Britain, creating, developing and sustaining a dialogue between ‘the other’ and UK audiences. In an increasingly polarised society, we want to ensure that the international remains a vital part in the national conversation.

WHO BENEFITS FROM OUR WORK

• Audiences far and wide – in 2017, our productions (including co-productions and licenced productions) were seen by 30,000 people, performing in 17 locations in 10 countries across 2 continents.

• Venue partners with whom we co-produce; or whose venues we tour to. We had 13 venue partners in 2017-18, including 4 co-producing partners. ATC’s work presents a unique offer to venues and their audiences, by enabling access for regional audiences to new international plays.

• Artists established and emerging in the UK – from actors to playwrights, designers to composers and choreographers. International artists – we empower international theatre-makers, especially playwrights, to share their work with English speaking audiences, often for the first time. We also work with emerging theatre-makers at the beginning of their careers, to support them in developing their craft and leadership skills, empowering them in the next stage of their journey.
